Intern Testimonial
I've had so much fun learning the fundamentals of chairmaking while working alongside the staff at Sawyer Made. For my learning style, there really is no replacement for hands-on, week after week training when approaching a new skill, and benefitting from two generations of engineers-turned-woodworkers' wisdom in the shop has been the cherry on top. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to earn an income while learning the beginnings of a new trade, and incredibly excited to someday take my learnings to the studio with me and apply them in fun new ways. I feel more knowledgeable in approaching wood as its own media now, and I've also learned techniques that feel cross-applicable to my main media, clay. I hope you never stop offering low-barrier-to-entry grant opportunities for local artists; they truly make a world of difference.
